Introduction To My Portfolio

The following describes my very simple strategies that I use personally in my own portfolio and post each day onto The Forum.

Over the years we have developed our own Class and Weight Differentials along with so much else and I use the CSV to find clear stand out horses within the differentials, the ratings, and the advantages.

The "Ten" Strategy Explained

These strategies have had various names over the years but I have now settled on the name The Ten. The reasoning behind the name is simple:

Every selection has a figure greater than Ten which indicates a stand out figure in the Daily CSV.

Portfolio Breakdown

My portfolio is built from four core components of the Daily CSV file, always looking for values greater than 10.

Part 1: Ratings Cherry Picks

The first FIVE parts of the portfolio are taken from the following columns. Very simply these could be regarded as ratings cherry picks because any with figures of greater than 10 can be considered as a selection.

Columns: AL (Conn) | AN (Lst) | AO (Cls) | AP (WinF) | AQ (Spd)

Part 2: The Differentials

Moving further into the CSV we have our differentials. These are very powerful, in my opinion the most powerful aspect within our ratings. A possible nine elements make up the differentials for me, as detailed below.

Differential Element CSV Column
5 Years Class EO
5 Years Weight EW
5 Years Class + Weight FE
1 Race Class FO
1 Race Weight FP
1 Race Class + Weight (No CSV Column)
1 Year Class FY
1 Year Weight GG
1 Year Class + Weight GO

Once again, my own method involves only using those with numbers greater than 10. The greater the number the better the differential.

Part 3: Advantages

The third part of the CSV that I use are the Advantages. These can all be found clustered together towards the far end of the CSV, in columns OK and then OM to OZ. All of these that have an advantage of 10 or greater.

Part 4: Sire and Dam Final

The final part is the Sire and Dam. Column MN on the CSV to pinpoint the selections.

Putting It All Together

Three of these strategies are tracked on the homepage.

It is my choice to use the number 10, but it can be anything; the higher the better to be more selective. Some parts of my "The Ten" system do very well a lot of the time, others not so. Some are long term very profitable, some are not, but I do not take out bad results to make it look better than it might be.

It's my preferred choice to do it this way. As always, others will have their own ideas on the ratings but this is at least a guide as to what I post onto The Forum.
